To set the scene I'm sat in a multicoloured jumper, my talented mum, knitted for me, a dress picked up from a charity shop, a cup of English breakfast tea in hand. And I'm surrounded by chickens with a babbling brook next to where I'm perched. I'm currently in Norfolk for a few days, which feels like the perfect location for me to talk a little bit about what home means to me.For context, I studied my bachelor's degree here in Norfolk, and it was here I had my first opportunity to make my own home away from the family space I grew up in. Questioning what home means to me has been a common and developing thought in my head throughout the years and its conclusion has led to me getting the word tattooed onto my body. In this context is me asking myself to look after I respect my body, as it is my home. It's also representative of my desire to be accepting of movement and change. And rather than feeling tied to a single geographical space, find that feeling of home within myself. This perspective has given me comfort when my feet wander. It has created space to hold gratitude that let go of expectation of what and how my surrounding should be. This doesn't mean I have completely let go of the physical space I've grown up in and my connections to the natural space of the UK. I've been painfully reminded of this, with the HS2 train line being built here within the UK at the expense of loss or damaged to 108 native ancient woodland, putting multiple species of woodland animals a risk of local extinction, local housing impacted and the safety of London's drinking water compromised. Mother Nature has always been a safe space, feeling the most comfortable and understood in a mossy forest. Floating in the refreshing salty sea water or scrambling up a rocky mountain. With 92% of English countryside and 97% of rivers off limits to the public. It feels like this home space is restricted and inaccessible. And in turn, it feels alienating. For me trying to quantify what home feels like can be best described as a deep breath after a long day, or a big cuddle from a loved one you've been longing to see a sense of relief I guess. How lucky I am to feel these things when I am home.

All the topics in this season touch back to you sown seeds of exchange. If anything in this episode spoke to you at all, I always love hearing thoughts and expressions that can be birthed from single collective stories. As I'm on this journey to learn here and design from this space. Please note that this is also a personal invitation and not everything may be relative to you.
